From the President

 Dear Garden Club members:

What a dynamic and energetic organization we have!  After 35 years, we are still a vital contributor to the Seabrook Island community.  Over the past year, we have hosted an interesting speaker series.  We have motivated members to action on a number of activities.  Perhaps the most impactful was the introduction of a Monarch Way Station to our community.  Located near the Community Garden Plots, the Monarch Way Station is thriving (in spite of our deer neighbors), and enticing a number of various pollinators.  We even spotted a tagged monarch!  And perhaps the most important contribution is raising awareness of the necessity of pollinators in both successful gardening and our food chain.

We have contributed to our community in a variety of other ways.  Our community-wide Open House was not only a fun event to celebrate our neighbors, but we raised funds to support our many philanthropies.

And, while looking back at our successes makes us so proud, we are looking toward the future this year.  We have a number of interesting and inspiring programs scheduled, as well as fun and educational field trips to look forward to.  We have volunteer opportunities to serve in our Monarch Way Station and on committees and raffles.  And, did I mention fun?  From our members’ BINGO night, our holiday Jingle Mingle, and our Open House, there is lots of laughter and friendship to celebrate.

We are glad that you have chosen to be a part of our Garden Club.  To get the full benefit, I would encourage you to sign up to be on a committee and learn more about how to make an impact.  We are always looking for future leaders, and will nurture your involvement to help you grow in our garden.

Wishing you a bountiful harvest of Garden Club fun and knowledge!

Sally Boudinot, President
